I often wonder how these epiphanies come me....then Mama says stop wondering...just write and you will discover the meaning later. So, often I write....then go back to reread what I wrote....

Thundering my thoughts.....stiring my storm....gentle rains washes tears.... I ask for forgiveness...wondering my fate.... The rainbows pushes the clouds to wipe my slate. (Thank you Father God for giving me another chance)

This status is the personal struggle of self...wondering if I'm doing what God has wanted me to do....He is stern, thus the thundering..then he stirs my emotions...my storm. Then with compassion he sends gentle rains....to wash my tears and cleanse me.

Afraid of what my fate will be...he sends the rainbows to push the cloud for me to see more clearly that he loves me so much...he forgives and wipes my slate clean.

"I know I don't cry alone.....cus..Mama ...I feel your tears from Heavens sky.."

Thank you Mama for clarifiying

Who You Foolin? | Print |  E-mail

“He (She) ain’t runnin’ nothing up in here! You better ask somebody, I run this! Besides, what do I look like letting somebody run over me!?!”

Okay, quit laughing now. You know you have heard somebody say that; or you may have said it yourself. I know I have at one point or two, in my life. So you ain’t foolin nobody but yourself if you deny the use and existence of the former statements. (LOL)

I now ask, ‘Who are you talking about when you say such things?’ And, ‘Why do you feel the need to explain or justify it when questioned?’ Don’t worry. You don’t have to answer to me or anyone else for that matter. You are the only one who has to live with every decision you make, and that goes for the ones concerning relationships as well; which brings me to my next point.

Have you ever wondered why what you’d never allow from one person, you almost always turn the other cheek for another? What is it about that particular person as opposed to the other? Or rather, what is in you that makes you stand up to one and fall for the other? That’s the real question you must answer. Because while the person you allow to have dominance may be stronger in a sense; it is up to you to maintain balance in every relationship you create.

We’ve all seen or at least heard the beautiful quote: “Never make someone a priority in your life when you remain an option in theirs.” And while that is one of the truest statements known to man, we still fail to take heed to it. So…It is my prayer that we as people remember how valuable every human relationship is, as well as the value we possess in it. Not all people we come in contact with will be beneficial to our lives but then again, they may; which brings us back to the beginning.

You are the only person you have to answer to! And it is inevitably up to you to decide whose privileged enough to enter your life. But it may very well be beneficial to have met someone who’s stronger mentally or physically; either because you allowed it or it is truthfully so. I say that because both ways should force you to reckon with yourself. Will you continue to allow that one person to reign? Or will you stand up and be who you were and are created to be, in every relationship? The choice is yours.

You ain’t foolin’ nobody but yourself if you continue to think that you are visually invincible (as if nobody really knows); when in fact, we all have been through the same thing before. So quit trying to convince everybody else that he/she ain’t running you and learn to run from all things negative, sprint to all things positive, and dwell in all things that will yield the results God created for you. If you don’t…

You won’t only be foolin’ yourself; you will be a fool!

The Southern Wind | Print |  E-mail

It could have blown me away, this southern wind
The subtle breeze swinging me back and forth, like a pendulum
Captivating me as it circled ,trying to find a way in ,the weak spot
the one that eventually builds up to the quiet storm.
And exits with the gracefulness of a hurricane.

It hit me from all directions, this southern wind
drawing me closer to something deep within
this easy going mellow irrepressible wind
That spoke volumes without making a sound

Still, the message was as forceful as its source

You can get burned by the fires, hopes dashed by the rains, the wind can either
be perfectly calm or it can blow you away.

Playwrite TY Martin... "The Chameleon" | Print |  E-mail

 Playwrite, TY Martin..."The Chameleon"

Why do I refer to him as the chameleon? Because there are many talented faces to TY Martin; readily adapting to time, circumstance, and character! His stage timing is impeccable; moving from a comedic actor, with the entire audience laughing so hard they are crying, to teacher and instructor; ensuring that his theatrical students understand the difference between acting and being the character!

T.Y. Martin, playwright, producer, director, and actor, has been involved in more than 34 stage plays in ten short years. Relentlessly working in the entertainment industry, Martin has the uncanny and tireless ability to write scripts, cast actors, direct, and obtain sponsorship. Originally trained in fashion merchandising in Chicago, Illinois, Martin first took to the stage in 1993. He was on tour in the USA for eight years as a stand up comedian, opening shows for the O’Jays, the Whispers, Mary J Blige, Kirk Franklin, Steve Harvey, and many others.  Martin made the transition from comedy to acting in 1996, when he toured with the professional production company, “Marvelous Entertainment.” This afforded him the opportunity to work with Margaret Avery, of the movie, “The Color Purple,” and led to roles in the plays, “God Don’t Like Ugly,” “Just Be a Man about It,” and others.  Martin was featured in the 2005 New York Film Festival, in a documentary called “If You Love Me Why Do You Cheat?” which details the behind the scenes world of staging his play of the same name.

In addition to his work on the stage, Martin has easily delved into film and TV, with minor roles in major movies such as “Double Jeopardy,” “Mission Impossible,” “Spiderman 3,” “Roll Bounce,” and “Why Did I Get Married Too.” In addition, he has appeared on the television series, “The West Wing,” and on an episode of “Meet The Browns.” Martin has taught drama to at-risk children in Cleveland, Ohio, and is currently teaching acting classes in metro Atlanta. The mission of T.Y. Martin Studios is to reach people who might never, otherwise, experience live theatre, and to offer gritty, humorous, and original productions. Martin’s theatrical productions present a look at a variety of life’s most challenging situations, and sometimes, even suggest practical solutions. Martin’s productions provide an opportunity for actors, in the developmental stages of their careers, to enhance performance skills, and to build professional resumes. “Above all,” he says, “our mission is to bring the gift of laughter and entertainment to the lives and hearts of our audiences.”

TY's latest project, "If You Love Me, Why Do You Cheat" will hit the Atlana Theatre scene Sunday, May 16th 2010 for 2 shows, 5 and 7 p.m. This hitstage play is back by popular demand, and will have the audience laughing, crying, and moved spiritually beyond measure! TY who wrote, produced and directed this wonderful stageplay, will also be playing one of the leading roles. Oh yes, the chameleon will be on stage for all to see!  He will be joined by some familiar, and some not so familiar faces; striking a beautifully constructed balance of characters you will not soon forget!  Cast members include LaDonna Coward, lead actress, Nasir Rahim, lead actor; and co starring La'Leche Green, Kristina Mack, Javonte Ruffin, Diane Dixon, Andre Baxter, Ronndelle Biffle, Debra H. Hughes, and yours truly, Deidra D. S. Green!

Tickets are available now, but not for long.  All cast members have tickets, or you can visit lovercheater.eventbrite.com.

Do yourself a favor, come out and see this provocative, inspirational and unexpected work of art by the master himself, TY Martin! You won't regret it!

Automatic Writing | Print |  E-mail

My senses wake up

One after the other,

And my heart shakes, aches.

I don’t dream, I live.

And my dreams are my life.

Lost in the atmosphere of time,

I fly like an eagle,

And I see the light!

I open my arms and I smile.

The wind caresses my body.

Pour the water onto the lake

And let the rain flow.

How many among us will pray?

Be thankful for what He has given you.

Sail away, away.

Dive into the dreams of your essence.

Absorb your deepest cravings,

And make them free.

The greatest souls among us

Are the ones who let go of time.

Sunsets happen for a reason,

For Nature made them so.

Embrace all, feel whole.

The universe has no boundaries

And as a member of it

You shouldn’t have any!

The Gift that Keeps On Giving | Print |  E-mail

The Gift that Keeps on Giving

In Chapter three of her book, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, author Rebecca Skloot writes, “. . . she climbed from the Buick outside Hopkins again, telling Day and the children not to worry.”

She is Henrietta Slacks, a poor southern tobacco farmer. Day is the nickname of her husband, David. Hopkins is in reference to Johns Hopkins Hospital. This hospital is one of the top hospitals in the country and the only major hospital for miles that treats black patients on this day, February 6, 1951.

When Henrietta climbs out of the Buick on that February day in Baltimore, she tells her husband and children not to worry. Although she feels a knot and extreme abdominal pain, she believes that she will overcome her pain. So, she tells her family not to worry. The children don’t worry because all three of them are probably too young to know what worrying means. Two of the children are still in diapers.

In fact, no one worries. No one has time to worry, because in less than eight months, Henrietta Slacks will die from cancer of the cervix.

Yet, Henrietta Slacks remains alive today. Her cells, called HeLa cells, have launched a multimillion-dollar industry that grew from ‘immortal cells’ taken from her cervix without her knowledge. Skloot spins an extraordinary tale that explores the history of the HeLa cell. This book is a page turner that explores the story of the Lacks family and the fact that although Henrietta’s cells have launched a multimillion-dollar industry that sells human biological material such as Henrietta’s cells, her family has never seen any of the profits.
