Deidra D. S. Green is highly sought after as a lecturer, educator, and presenter. Her command of the podium, extensive knowledge base, and ability to effectively communicate, has both informed and captivated audiences. They leave challenged, inspired, and wanting more.

Deidra was born in E. St. Louis, IL to the proud parents of Robert W. and M. Catherine Smoot.  She is the eldest of the three children; her younger sister Robyn Kaye has been resting with God since 1999. Her baby brother Patrick Schayne, is an educator, author, and a dynamic speaker. Deidra, her two children VcToryann and Kamerron, and her brother reside in Atlanta GA.

Deidra secured her Bachelors degree in Psychology from SIU-C, and her Masters in Social Work from George Warren Brown School of Social Work, Washington University.  While there, Deidra continued her work in human services by becoming a consultant for the local suicide crisis network, as well as working for the metro area dually diagnosed mentally ill and homeless population.  Her dedication to service in the community was again echoed when she became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., in 1993.

Deidra has continued her dedication to working with the underserved and systemically disenfranchised populations in the larger community.  She served as a child welfare specialist for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) for 5 years; and later, as a Public Service Administrator for DCFS for eight years.  Deidra has continued her impassioned work with children and families in the Atlanta area.  She is currently pursuing a Ph. D. in Human Services with a specialization in social and community development from Capella University with an anticipated graduation of June 2011.

Deidra has authored several books: "My Forever Airplane", "Closet Issues: A Poet's Journey into the Dark Places", "The Smallest Superhero", "Wordsmithin'", "The Smallest Superhero and the CBU", and her first novel, "Here Comes Katrina". She has continued her literary prowess as Editor in Chief of VertiKal MagaZine, "Positive Living for Positive People". Deidra is the founder of the Young Writers Guild, Southwest Atlanta.  the Young Writers Guild is an on-going writing workshop for children ages 6 to 18. The YWG began in August 2009, and will be producing a quarterly newsletter of work from the youth participating in this fantastic project. She is also the founder of The Mahogany Writers Exchange; a consortium and on-going workshop for adult writers.

Deidra is the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operations Officer for The VertiKal Group, Inc,; a small conglomerate of companies inclusive of but not limited to VertiKal MagaZine, Commercial Green Cleaning, Construction, several clothing lines, Product Development and Strategic Planning, Merchandising Workshops,and Private Men's Wear Consulting. She is the Chief Executive Officer of The Winged Victory Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit organization focusing on the empowerment and enrichment of young ladies who are victims of intimate partner violence. She is also the Director of Staff Development for T.O.U.C.H (Teaching Our Unique Children Holistically) Foundation, Inc. Deidra was recently admitted into the Biltmore Who's Who of Executive and Professional Women, 2009-2010.
